Peter Carl Fabergé
Goldsmith and jeweller
Russian goldsmith whose workshops made the imperial Easter eggs.
Peter Carl Fabergé took over his father’s jewellery firm in St Petersburg in 1872 and made it a court supplier. The workshops were run by workmasters, several of them Finns and Swedes.
After the Revolution of 1917 the firm was nationalised and Fabergé fled. He died in Lausanne in 1920.
