Otto Wagner

Architect

Viennese architect who renewed the city around 1900 and designed the furniture for his buildings.

Otto Wagner designed the Vienna Stadtbahn with its stations, bridges and viaducts and built the Postal Savings Bank, its façade clad in marble plates fixed with aluminium bolts.

As a professor at the Academy he urged his students to start from the needs of modern life.
