The unsinkable fibreglass boat with a cathedral hull and foam between the skins.

The inventor Richard Fisher experimented with foam between two fibreglass skins, and the boat designer C. Raymond Hunt helped him with the hull shape. The result was a stable, unsinkable boat that was easy to make.

Boston Whaler became one of the first fibreglass boats sold in large numbers and was used by fishermen, rescue services and summer visitors. Its simple, functional form has strongly influenced later open motorboats.

Materials: Glass-reinforced plastic with polyurethane foam between inner and outer skins

Manufacture: Made by Boston Whaler in Massachusetts from 1958.
