Steinlen’s black cat with a halo – the poster for the touring company of the cabaret Le Chat Noir.
Le Chat Noir was Montmartre’s most famous cabaret, with shadow theatre and poetry. Steinlen’s poster has become one of the most copied images of Paris around 1900. Copies are in the Musée de Montmartre and MoMA.
