The first bottle Lalique made for François Coty – the beginning of the perfume bottle as a work of art.

François Coty, who started his perfume house in Paris in 1904, saw that the bottle could sell the perfume. He asked the jewellery artist René Lalique to make labels and then whole bottles.

The collaboration turned Lalique into a glass artist and showed that beautiful bottles could be made in large series. Coty was one of the first to sell perfume to many, in bottles as desirable as the scent.

Materials: Pressed glass, stopper with a figure in relief

Manufacture: Designed by René Lalique for Coty in 1908 and made in Lalique’s glassworks.
