Hasselblad 500C

Hasselblad 500C, Victor Hasselblad
Benjamin Balazs, CC0

The medium-format camera with interchangeable parts that went to the Moon with Apollo.

The 500C was based on Hasselblad’s earlier models but had the shutter in the lenses. The camera could be rebuilt with different finders, lenses and film magazines.

NASA used Hasselblad cameras in the space programme, and most of the pictures from the 1969 Moon landing were taken with them. The 500C became the standard for professional photographers.
