Parker Jotter

Parker Jotter, Parker Pen Company
I, Public domain

Parker’s first ballpoint of 1954, with the arrow clip and a large refill – sold by the hundred million.

When the ballpoint took off, Parker developed the Jotter, launched in 1954. The large refill lasted a long time, and the pen was cheap enough for many.

The refill turns with each click so that the ball wears evenly. The Jotter has been made with small changes for some seventy years.

Materials: Plastic or metal, stainless steel

Manufacture: Industrially made in the United States, later in Britain and France.

The arrow-shaped clip, Parker’s mark since the 1930s.

A ribbed metal cap and a push button that turns the refill a notch with each click.

Date codes and country of manufacture stamped on the barrel or cap.

A slim body, an arrow-shaped metal clip and a button at the very end that clicks the tip forward.
