Le Jade

Lalique’s green bottle for Roger & Gallet, shaped like a Chinese snuff bottle.

In the 1920s China and Japan were a great inspiration for French design. Lalique made the bottle for Roger & Gallet’s perfume Le Jade in green glass meant to look like jade.

It is an example of Art Deco’s borrowings from other cultures, and of how a bottle could tell of the scent even before it was opened.

Materials: Green pressed glass resembling jade

Manufacture: Designed by René Lalique for Roger & Gallet in 1926.
