The wallpaper with winding jasmine stems and small white flowers.

Jasmine was designed by William Morris around 1872 and is based on stems that run diagonally across the surface. The pattern is light and airy, with less contrast than the earlier wallpapers.

The wallpaper shows how Morris learned to simplify his plant patterns. It was printed with woodblocks in several colours.

Materials: Distemper on paper, printed with woodblocks

Manufacture: Hand-printed with woodblocks by Jeffrey & Co. for Morris & Co.
