Ping Eye2
The irons with perimeter weighting and square grooves that became a dispute over the rules of golf.
Karsten Solheim, a Norwegian-born engineer, moved the weight to the edges of the clubhead so that even poor shots flew straight. The result was the Eye2 irons.
The grooves in the face were square and gave more spin from the rough. After a long dispute over the rules the governing bodies of golf changed the rules on the shape of grooves.
