Quad II

The small valve power amplifier that became a model for the English hi-fi tradition.

Peter Walker designed the Quad II as a monaural power amplifier. It had low distortion and was small and simple, and counted as one of the best power amplifiers of the 1950s.

The amplifier is still used by enthusiasts and built in new versions. It shows the aim of the English hi-fi school: clean sound without decoration.

Materials: Grey-painted steel case, four valves
