Quad

Peter Walker’s company in Huntingdon; electrostatic loudspeakers and valve amplifiers.

Peter Walker founded the Acoustical Manufacturing Company in London, which later moved to Huntingdon. The company made amplifiers and became known under the name Quad.

The Quad ESL of 1957 was one of the first electrostatic loudspeakers for the home, with a thin diaphragm between two grilles. It has since been made in new versions.

Flat loudspeakers with metal grilles and a wooden frame.

Amplifiers with a characteristic grey-brown front and small push buttons.
