Cabinet by Ruhlmann

Art Deco luxury in wood: Macassar ebony inlaid with ivory on slender legs.
Ruhlmann’s workshop in Paris made each piece by hand in a few examples and in the most costly materials available. At the 1925 Paris exhibition he furnished the ‘Hôtel du Collectionneur’. His furniture is in the Metropolitan Museum and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
Materials: Macassar ebony, ivory, amaranth, silver-plated bronze
Manufacture: Rare veneers on an oak carcass; ivory inlay and slender tapering legs with sabots.
The swelling body on thin, pointed legs – a Ruhlmann hallmark.
Inlaid dots and lines of ivory against the dark wood.
