Sony Trinitron

The colour television with a new kind of picture tube that gave a brighter, sharper image.
The Trinitron used a grille of vertical wires instead of a shadow mask, so more light reached the screen. Sony won an Emmy for the technology in 1973, and the tube was used in televisions and computer monitors for more than thirty years.
