Sony
Founded in Tokyo by Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita; the TR-55 transistor radio (1955), the Trinitron television and the Walkman (1979).
Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita started Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo in a bombed-out department store in Tokyo. The TR-55 transistor radio of 1955 was the first in Japan, and the company changed its name to Sony so that it would work internationally.
The Trinitron of 1968 gave a sharper colour picture, and the Walkman of 1979 made music portable. The PlayStation of 1994 made Sony a big name in games.
