Adidas

Adolf Dassler’s shoe factory in Herzogenaurach; football boots and World Cup balls such as the Telstar.

Adolf Dassler, known as Adi, made shoes in Herzogenaurach in Franconia with his brother Rudolf. After the brothers parted ways in 1948, Adi founded Adidas and his brother Puma, on opposite sides of the river in the town.

The three stripes stabilised the shoe and became the brand's hallmark. West Germany won the 1954 World Cup in Adidas boots with screw-in studs, and the Stan Smith tennis shoe and the Superstar basketball shoe became classics.
