Functionalism
Objects and houses where function decides the form, for a modern and fairer society.
The Stockholm Exhibition of 1930 made functionalism known in Sweden. Behind it stood the Swedish Society of Crafts and Design, today Svensk Form, and the idea of "more beautiful everyday things" for everyone.
The functionalists measured how people actually lived. The Frankfurt kitchen and Kåge's Praktika tableware are examples of design built on studies of everyday life.
